A Florida native, Dr. Duffy and his wife, Donna, have been married for 25 years and have four children. After graduating from Bishop Moore High School, Dr. Duffy performed his undergraduate studies at Florida Technological University (UCF), graduating in 1977; following which, he obtained his dental technician training from Southern College. He then owned and operated a dental laboratory in Longwood, Florida for 3 years. In 1981 he was accepted at Washington University School of Dental Medicine, St. Louis Missouri; and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1985.
He then returned to Orlando to begin his dental career.
In 1987, he attended the curriculum for the TMJ Institute of America. In 1991, he attended the Anesthesia residency course at the Medical College of Georgia and received his permit for I.V. Sedation by the State of Florida, and has been performing in-office sedation for approximately ten years, with all the necessary monitoring equipment set in a self-contained surgical suite. In 1998, he attended the MAXI-Surgical-Implant course at the Medical College of Georgia and became an active member in the American Implant Academy, and has been placing implants in his office for approximately 4 ½ years. In May 1999 he was granted an Associate Fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry following the successful completion of the written exam and the oral case presentation portion. In 2001, he obtained the title of Diplomate in the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry after successfully completing both the written and oral exams for surgical and restorative implant dentistry.
Dental Society of Greater Orlando, Central District Dental Society, Florida Dental Association, American Dental Association, Cleft Palate Association, Central Florida Cleft Palate Association, American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry. He also has Florida Hospital staff privileges.
Dr. Bongiorno was born and raised in Orlando. After graduating from Boone High School, he attended University of Central Florida. He then transferred to University of Florida, where he received his degree in Nutritional Science. Dr. B earned his D.M.D. from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry. Dr. B is married to his high school sweetheart, Whitney. Whitney also graduated from UF, where she earned her masters in Elementary Education. They have 2 children, Joseph III (J.B.) and their new son Noah, they also have a miniature schnauzer named Sergio.
Dr. Bongiorno is an active member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and the Dental Society of Greater Orlando. His interests include Gator Football, inshore fishing and spending time at the dog park with Whitney, J.B. and Sergio.
